Capitals, SANA- Many countries condemned the Israeli aggression that targeted the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, stressing that targeting diplomatic headquarters was a flagrant violation of international laws and the Vienna Conventions related to diplomatic relations.
“Targeting diplomatic headquarters and missions constitutes a described violation of international law, and a serious violation of the Vienna Conventions on Diplomatic and Consular Relations, which guarantee the immunity and inviolability of diplomatic headquarters”, National News Agency quoted the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants as saying in its condemnation of the aggression.
The Ministry affirmed that this dangerous escalation in violation of international laws and norms inevitably threatens regional and international peace and security.
The Lebanese Ministry offered its sincere condolences to the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded.
“This bombing is considered a blatant assault on the sovereignty of Syrian territory and a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, especially those that grant protection to diplomatic missions and safety to their members”, KUNA quoted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait as saying in statement.
The Ministry renewed its call to the international community and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities in taking measures and making the necessary efforts, in a way that preserves the safety and stability of the countries of the region and reduces tension and escalation.
In turn, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs condemned the Israeli aggression, and the ministry’s official spokesman, Sufyan Al-Qudah, said that targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus represents a serious violation of international law and an attack on the sanctity of diplomatic headquarters protected under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
“Pakistan strongly condemns the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus”, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The Ministry stressed that this attack constitutes an unacceptable violation of Syrian sovereignty and undermines its stability and security.
“This attack is a violation of international law and the UN Charter, and attacks on diplomats or diplomatic targets are illegal under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961”, the statement added.
The statement called on the UN Security Council to prevent the Israeli entity from adventurous behavior in the region and its illegal actions against its neighbors and targeting foreign diplomatic targets.
