Moscow, SANA-US Senator Richard Black said that Syria is a center of gravity for Western civilization, suggesting that were it to fall, the entire region and Europe will feel the consequences.
“If Damascus falls, the dreaded black and white flag of ISIS will fly” over Syria, Virginia state Senator Richard Black warned in an interview with RT, adding that the fall of Damascus, if it happens, will expedite the fall of Jordan and Lebanon “in a matter of months.”
ISIS will next set sights on Europe, he warned.
Black, who served in the US Marine Corps and retired as a Colonel in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) corps before getting elected to the Virginia legislature said the Syrian government, led by President Bashar al-Assad, is effectively fighting against the Islamic State and protecting the remaining Christians of Syria.
He criticized a fateful history of US intervention in the region that has led to the purging of Christians from several countries.
