Syrian national football team loses to Iran at 16 round of Asian cup 2023

Doha, SANA-The Syrian national football team lost 5-3 to its Iranian counterpart on penalty ckicks at the end of regular and extra time with a 1-1 draw, in the match that brought them together on Wednesday at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium at the 16 round of the Asian cup 2023 in Qatar.

The Iranian team opened the scoring in the 34th minute from a penalty kick by Mehdi Taremi, while the Syrian team tied in the 62nd minute through Omar Khribin from a penalty kick.

The referee counted additional periods for the match between Syrian national football team with Iranian counterpart at the Asian Championship in a 1-1 draw.

Our team qualified for the 16 round among the best four teams that reached the third place in the group stage for the second group according to the tournament system, which stipulates that the first and second also qualify for the same round.
