A Chinese tourist group visits the ancient city of Palmyra

Palmyra, SANA- A group of Chinese tourists visited the Ancient city of Palmyra in the Syrian semi-desert. Palmyra city nowadays is witnessing an increasing number of visitors, delegations and tourist groups from around the world for its historic sites.

In front of the famous Temple of Bel, a number of Chinese tourists expressed their deep sadness over the big sabotage that affected temple exposed as a result of an attack by Daesh terrorist organization.

 Jiang Guo, a teacher of Middle Eastern history at a Chinese university, said in a statement to SANA “I am eager to see Palmyra civilization and learn about its architectural heritage, which I have read a lot about.”

She stressed that Syria is an important tourist destination for Chinese tourists, especially since the close tourism and cultural relations are a matter of interest between both countries and “we look at them with respect and appreciation.”

 Head of the group, Yafu Wuhu, affirmed that the Chinese tourists have great interest in ancient history.

“We consider Palmyra city as the cradle of civilization, it is distinguished by its architectural art, its ancient buildings, and its ornate stone carvings created by the Palmyra artists for many thousands years ago, He said.

Wuhu added that upon his return to his country, he will invite his friends and all his relatives to visit Syria and its distinguished historic site.
