Efforts continue to put out fire in al-Ghab mountain forests

Hama, SANA- For the 2nd day in a row, the firefighting personnel’s efforts continue to put out a huge fire that was erupted in the high mountains forests extended between the villages of Tahounet al-Halaweh, Fakrou, Abu Klifoun and Nabea al-Tayyeb in al-Ghab area, in Hama western countryside.

Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Mohammed Hassan Qatana stressed, after touring a number of sites where fire was erupted, the necessity of unifying all efforts and coordination among the firefighter teams to encircle the fire and limit its spread in the mountain forests and dense forests located in area

Director of the General Commission for Management and Development of al–Ghab, Eng. Awfa Wassouf, told SANA in a Statement that operations to control the fire are continuing, referring to the difficulties facing the extinguishing of the fire due to the rugged terrain of the area, wind speeds and high temperatures.

Firefighter teams, Civil Defense teams and Police units from Hama, Homs, Tartous and Damascus Countryside participate in the extinguishing of the fire.
