Mikdad, Lavrov discuss bilateral relations, latest developments

Damascus, SANA-Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, discussed on Monday with Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, bilateral relations between Syria and Russia, particularly with regards to political consultation, coordination of stances and the exchange of support at the UN.

Mikdad, during a telephone call with Lavrov, reiterated Syria’s stance in support for Russia’s special military operation in Donbas, and in the face of different attempts to target Russia’s national security and stability.

He appreciated Russia’s stance in support of Syria against terrorism and attempts to target Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Mikdad briefed his Russian counterpart on the latest developments in Syria and the region, and the outcomes of consultations made recently.

Lavrov, for his part, thanked Syria for its support to Russia and the measures it is taking to face western campaigns against it, saying that his country welcomes the positive atmospheres in the Arab region and the resumption of Syria’s participation in the Arab League meetings.
