Al- Farah Choir performs musical concert on the 2nd anniversary of establishing the National Center for Stem Cells (Hayat)

Damascus, SANA-On the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of its foundation, the National Center for Stem Cells (Hayat) held Monday a musical concert at Damascus Opera House in the presence of the First Lady, Mrs. Asma al-Assad.

The musical concert titled “life’s journey” and was performed by al- Farah Choir (the Choir of Joy).

The aforementioned Center was inaugurated at the University Children’s Hospital in Damascus in 2021. Mrs. Asma al-Assad said at the inauguration ceremony: “It constitutes a new hope for children and their families, and a new perspective for cancer treatment in Syria, especially since the Center was able to meet the highest standards that guarantee the safety of the child and the success of transplant operations.”

The concert, whose proceeds will go to support the Center, began with screening of a cartoon film called “Hayat” (life), and another short film “Let’s ring the bells… to announce a new beginning”.

Then, the children of al- Farah Choir sang songs that convey hope, love and joy.

At the concert , there were 23 boys and girls who completed the treatment at the Center.

Head of the National Committee for Cancer Control Dr. Arwa al-Azma highlighted the importance of the Center as it is the first of its kind in the field of bone marrow and stem cell transplantation in children, and this achievement brought life and hope to all children whose treatment requires stem cell transplantation.

She clarified that the Center will allow children with hereditary blood diseases, congenital immunodeficiency, congenital and hereditary metabolic diseases, leukemia and some types of solid cancers, to recover and lead a normal life.
