Mikdad congratulates Algerian counterpart on electing his country as non-permanent member at UN Security council

Damascus, SANA-Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, addressed a message of congratulation to Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, on electing Algeria as non-permanent member at UN Security council for 2024 and 2025.

Mikdad reiterated Syria’s appreciation to Algeria’s great support during the years of war, and during the earthquake catastrophe that hit Syria in February.

“We have received with great joy the news of electing your country to occupy a non-permanent seat at UN Security council for the two years of 2024- 2025,” Mikdad said.

“We are confident that Algeria, the country of a Million Martyrs, was and will always be able to assume its responsibilities as an effective member in the international community and an outstanding representative of Arab and African countries,” Minister Mikdad added.

“Being a member at Security Council, Algeria will contribute to upholding the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter in addition to enhancing international peace and security, preserving multilateralism away from Western hegemony.”

In his message, Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed Syria’s gratitude for Algeria’s firm support to the Syrian people in addressing the devastating earthquake and the terrorist war, hailing the coordination and effective cooperation between the two countries

Minister Mikdad also affirmed that Syria will spare no effort to make brotherly Algeria’s membership a success at the Security Council in the interest of Arab and the two brotherly countries.
