NEC: eight tremors recorded over past 24 hours

Damascus, SANA- Eight tremors with magnitudes ranging between 1.7 and 4.1 were recorded over the past 24 hours, National Earthquake Center(NEC) announced Tuesday.

The stations of the National Seismological Monitoring Network registered on Tuesday morning a 2.8 magnitude tremor northeast of Raqqa at a depth of 6.2, the NEC said in a statement.

The center added that seven other quakes were also reported over the 24 past hours, ranging between weak to medium in magnitude.

The registered quakes were distributed as follow: a 2.2 magnitude quake north of Hama, two quakes in the sea, one of which with a 2.6 magnitude, 63km north of Lattakia and the second with a 1.7 magnitude, 47 km northwest of Lattakia, and four tremors in Turkey with a magnitude ranging between 2.7 and 4.1.

The quakes have occurred at different depths, reaching up to 39.7 km.
