Syria, Iraq discuss means of boosting security coordination level

Baghdad, SANA- Syria and Iraq discussed on Sunday means of boosting the bilateral relations, enhancing the level of security coordination between both countries.

This came during a meeting between Iraqi Interior Minister, Abdul Amir al-Shammari, and Syrian Ambassador to Baghdad, Satam Jadaan al-Dandah

Minister al-Shammari hailed the deep relations between Syria and Iraq, underscoring the need to upgrade them to better levels for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples, Iraqi Interior Ministry told SANA correspondent in a statement in Baghdad

Ambassador al-Dandah, in turn, said that they discussed during the meeting the importance of historical and bilateral relations between both countries, the mechanism for developing them, and the importance of coordinating security efforts in a way that serves interests of two brotherly peoples, security and stability in the whole region.

He appreciated the Iraqi government’s decision to settle the situation of Syrians violating the conditions of residency, grant them residency and release the violators.

Al-Dandah stressed that both sides underscored the importance of signing security memo of understanding(MoU) and approving the granting visas to merchants, industrialists and businessmen.

He added that they also focused on enhancing joint cooperation in order to prevent smuggling of Syrian oil derivatives into Iraqi territory.
