Syria and South Africa to cooperate in oil and gas fields

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Suleiman Abbas and South African ambassador in Damascus Shaun Byneveldt discussed cooperation in the fields of oil, gas and mineral resources’ investment.

Both sides discussed on Monday the possibility of investment in Phosphate manufacturing, developing phosphate-related industries and SA’s participation in standing oil refineries particularly that of Ferqolos refinery project, in addition to establishing joint companies in the fields of oil services.

Minister Abbas welcomed SA’s companies, that have experience in oil field, wishing them to have investments in Syria and he affirmed that SA companies will have the priority in future investment opportunities in Syria.

For his part, ambassador Byneveldt expressed hope to have chance to see oil, gas and mineral resources investment opportunities, and to create cooperation opportunities for the joint interests of both peoples.
