Tunisian President to Minister Mikdad: Tunisia’s stance comes in support of Syria

Tunis, SANA- Tunisian President Kais Saied received Tuesday, at the Carthage Palace, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Fayssal Mikdad who conveyed to him the greetings of President Bashar al-Assad and his thanks to the Tunisian leadership, government and people for the assistance it provided to Syria to face the ordeal of the earthquake and the messages this aid conveyed and the deep bonds between the two peoples it reflected.

Minister Mikdad also conveyed President al-Assad’s congratulations to President Saied on the occasion of the approaching Eid al-Fitr.

Minister Mikdad expressed Syria’s satisfaction with the return of the bilateral relations linking the two brotherly countries, Syria and Tunisia, to their normal and correct path, stressing his great happiness with the stability and prosperity the country achieved during the leadership of President Saied, despite all the crises surrounding it and what it faces of challenges.

Minister Mikdad thanked the Tunisian President for his support for Syria in its war against terrorism, affirming the importance of strengthening relations between them for the benefit and service of the two brotherly peoples and countries.

In turn, President Saied conveyed his warmest greetings to President al-Assad and his great happiness for the development of ties binding the two countries, wishing further progress and prosperity for the Syrian leadership, government and people, pointing to the achievements that Syria has made in its war on terrorism, its steadfastness in the face of conspiracies and its preservation of its sovereignty.

His excellency expressed his satisfaction with what it is  being witnessed in terms of developments in the Syrian-Arab relations.

In addition, Minister Mikdad briefed President Saied the results of communication between Syria and numerous Arab and friendly countries, political developments in the region and the world, and the Syrian positions towards them, including President al-Assad’s emphasis on the importance of mobilizing the efforts of all Arab countries to defend their just causes.

In a press statement following the meeting, Mikdad said that Syria expresses its satisfaction over relations that bind the two brotherly countries and over the courageous decisions adopted by the Tunisian President that show determination to unify the Arab efforts and face challenges to which all Arab countries are exposed.

“Following the bold decision taken by the Tunisian President to restore diplomatic relations between the two countries, there is a new Ambassador accepted by Syria and we will open our Embassy and send the diplomatic cadres in the coming days,” Mikdad said.

He added that both sides discussed the situation in the Arab region, and “we hope more efforts that come in the interest of the Arab nation and to not allow the foreign powers to divide our states or peoples as they are the source of the real power in today’s world.”
