Lavrov: The West doesn’t want to end the conflict in Ukraine

Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed that the West is not pushing for a halt in fighting in Ukraine; rather NATO is fighting on Kiev’s side.

He noted that Russia condemns the West approach towards the countries of the world.

Lavrov made the remarks at talks with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, on Wednesday.

“The West is adopting subversive policy in Ukraine, announcing there is no potential for stopping the war there while ruthlessly raging the war no matter the cost,” Lavrov stated in a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart.

As to the situation in Syria, Lavrov said he has discussed the ongoing developments in Syria amid the meeting with his Iranian counterpart. The two sides highly valued the 19th International Meeting on Syria in the Astana format.

On the other hand, they hailed the improvement of the situation in the Middle Eastern region in light of the declared restoration of [diplomatic] relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
