Minsk, SANA- The Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of Syria to Belarus, Muhammad al-Omrani, participated in the activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Khatyn Massacre committed by Nazi Germany forces during World War II.
“The world must unite in order to resist Nazism thus the Khatyn tragedy will not happen once again, al-Omrani said in a statement to reporters, describing this massacre as a “terrible tragedy”.
“We hope such tragedies will never happen again, but after 80 years, we see that history is repeating itself; Unfortunately, Nazism appears again in some places.
Al-Amrani described the relations binding Syria and Belarus as historically friendly and distinguished in all fields.
He pointed out that both countries resist the pressures excreted by external sanctions and attempts to interfere in their internal affairs.
It is noteworthy that Khatyn is a Belarusian village located 54 km northwest of the capital, Minsk, and was burned on March 22, 1943 by the Nazis.
