Ambassador al-Khatib: Syrian-Indian relations are deeply-rooted

New Delhi, SANA- Syrian Ambassador to India, Dr. Bassam al-Khatib, affirmed that India was one of the first countries in providing humanitarian aid to the earthquake-affected people in Syria.

During a lecture at the Indian International Center in the capital, New Delhi, entitled “Syrian-Indian Relations: Past, Present, and Future,” Ambassador al-Khatib spoke about the depth of historic relations between the two friendly countries.

The Ambassador also praised India’s stance in which it supported respecting Syria’s sovereignty and preserving its territorial integrity, its right to defend its rights, combat terrorism and not allow any military intervention on its lands, which is a violation of international norms and laws.

In another context, Ambassador al-Khatib explained that Syria is facing great difficulties due to the war imposed on it, in addition to the US occupation of Syrian lands, and the unilateral US sanctions that harmed the Syrian society.
