1910- Assassination of former Egyptian Prime Minister Boutros Ghali.
1916 – German forces attacks French fortress at Verdun area.
1922 – The UK ends its protectorate of Egypt.
1946 – Egyptian students stage a strike against the British authorities leads to a clash resulting in the killing of 28 persons and injury of 432 others.
1948 – Declaration of Libya’s Independence.
1960 – Cuban leader Fidel Castro nationalizes private companies in Cuba.
1970 – A bomb was detonated in a Swiss airlines’ aircraft, killing 38 passengers and 9 all nine crew on board, near Zurich.
1973 – Israeli fighter jets shot down Libyan airliner over Sinai, killing 108 of the 113 passengers and crew.
