Syrian Olympic football team ties with Indonesian counterpart in friendly match

Djakarta, SANA – The Syrian Olympic football team met its Indonesian counterpart in a friendly match on Tuesday in Surabaya city as part of their preparations for AFC U-23 Asian Cup, with the match ending in a 1-1 tie.

The Syrian team scored the first goal from a ball that rebounded off the goal post at the 12 minutes mark, but the Indonesian team scored three minutes later from a penalty kick.

The two teams will meet in another friendly match on February 14, and the Syrian team will play two more friendly matches against Singapore on February 18 and 21.

The Syrian team will play in group 5 AFC U-23 Asian Cup which will be hosted by Bangladesh. The group includes Uzbekistan, India, and Bangladesh.
