Inauguration of the Honorary Consulate General of the Republic of Paraguay in Damascus

Damascus, SANA- The Honorary Consulate General of the Republic of Paraguay was inaugurated on Wednesday in the Free Zone in Damascus, as part of the efforts exerted to strengthen and develop relations between Syria and Paraguay.

In a speech after the opening ceremony and hoisting the flag of Paraguay in front of the consulate, Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Ayman Sousan, affirmed that the opening of the consulate will lay a basic building block for strengthening friendship between the two countries and opening promising prospects for cooperation between them in various fields.

Sousan added that Syria, based on its belief in establishing the best relations with all countries of the world on the basis of respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs, is keen to strengthen these relations in a way that achieves the mutual interests of all peoples and lays solid foundations for cooperation, ensuring peace and security in the world and achieving prosperity for all.

He noted that Susan opening the consulate represents a celebration of friendship with Paraguay.

For his part, President of Senate of Paraguay Oscar Ruben Salomon Fernandez, stressed that the opening of the consulate in Damascus will contribute to strengthening relations with Syria.

Fernandez added that the Senate will provide all possible assistance for the success of the consulate’s work and the performance of the tasks entrusted to it.

The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Paraguay in Damascus, Mohammad Qattan, said that the opening of the consulate is an embodiment of the developed relations between the two friendly countries.

He shed light on the friendly relations that bind the two peoples for nearly a century.

Qattan underscored the importance of the role that the consulate will play in boosting and developing diplomatic, political and economic relations between the two countries, strengthening friendship ties and enhancing the cultural relations between them.

He expressed hope to intensify joint action in all fields and open the way for Syria to access markets in Latin America and contribute to the reconstruction phase to achieve prosperity for both countries.
