Mikdad stresses the role of Syrian community in Paraguay to foster relations between the two countries

Damascus, SANA- The relations between Syria and Paraguay continue to be enhanced and the peoples of the two countries are committed to common principles of sovereignty and independence of political decision, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad said during his meeting with President of Senate of Paraguay Oscar Ruben Salomon Fernandez and the members of the accompanying delegation on Sunday.

Mikdad underlined the need to activate and deepen cooperation at political and economic fields.

He briefed the Paraguayan delegation on the latest development in Syria, referring to the key role of the Syrian community abroad and in Paraguay, to foster relationships between the two countries.

Mikdad indicated that the support of the West with weapons and billions of dollars for terrorism in Syria is a continuation of its aggressive policy against Syria, stressing that Western policies which support terrorism in Syria impede political efforts for the recovery and stabilization of the country.

Mikdad added that the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria are immoral and contradict international law and affect the Syrian citizens.

For his part, Fernandez said that the ties between the peoples of Syria and Paraguay allow the development of bilateral relations on more than one level.

Fernandez expressed his country’s interest in strengthening relations with Syria, mentioning the role of Syrian expatriates and citizens of Syrian origin in strengthening these relations.

The senator pointed out that what he observed during his visit to Syria is totally different from what is being fabricated by the hostile media outlets.
