Damascus , SANA- Minister of Transport , Zouheir Khzeim, discussed with Minister of Roads and Urban Development , Head of the Syrian –Iranian Joint Economic Committee for the Iranian side , Rostam Qasemi, means of developing the agreed agenda between the two countries ,especially in the domain of the railway link for passengers and cargo among Syria, Iraq and Iran.
The talks also dealt with enhancing cooperation in the domains of maritime and air transport, exchanging expertise and training between the two counties ,in addition to building new roads, rehabilitating highways and bridges in Syria along with the constant coordination to face the economic blockade imposed by the West on the two countries.
In a statement to the Press, Minister Qasemi said that the aim of this visit is activating the signed agreements between the two countries in the domain of transport , referring to an agreement on establishing a direct shipping route and developing the air freight between the two counties.
For his part, Minister Khzeim stated that the Ministry seeks to accomplish the railway linking between Syria and Iran, adding that the meeting tackled the obstacles that may face transit works and hinder the mutual trade.
Syria, Iran and Iraq, in 2019 signed minutes of meeting on cooperation in the field of comprehensive transportation.
