Representing President al-Assad, Sabbagh congratulates Iranian President, Raisi : We will continue strong cooperation

Tehran, SANA- Representing President Bashar al-Assad, Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hammoudah Sabbagh on Thursday congratulated, on behalf of the Syrian people and leadership, the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi upon his assumption of the office of the presidency of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iranian President sent his greetings to President l-Assad and the Syrian people, wishing that Syria and its people would restore security and stability.
The Iranian President stressed the need to develop the political and economic relations between Tehran and Damascus in serving the interests of the two countries.

He hailed the resilience of the Syrian people and leadership in resisting western terrorism and their victory over terrorism, asserting the necessity that foreign forces, which are illegitimately presented on the Syrian territories to leave Syria as soon as possible.

For his part, Sabbagh stressed that the Syrian-Iranian relations are “strong and deep-rooted”, indicating that the Syrian and Iranian blood which has mixed in the joint battle against terrorism constituted the main factor in achieving victory against terrorism.

Sabbagh reiterated the necessity of enhancing bilateral relations in various domains, particularly the economic one.

In the same context, Sabbagh discussed with the Speaker of the Islamic Shura Council of Iran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the means of developing bilateral cooperation, especially in the parliamentary field.

Sabbagh stressed the importance of joint action to promote and develop these relations in different fields, especially the economic and trade cooperation, stressing the importance of achieving what has been agreed upon during Qalibaf’s visit to Damascus.

In addition, the Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee held a session that focused on means of improving and developing parliamentary, economic, and cultural cooperation, as required by the current phase, in light of the challenges facing the two countries due to unfair pressures and sanctions.
