Young woman seeks to enter Guinness World Record with largest mandala painting

Damascus, SANA_ The Syrian young woman Lama Zakarai hopes to raise the name of Syria high and prove the creativity of Syrian youth in all fields. Zakaria has completed the first quarter of her dot mandala painting within two hundred working hours, aspiring to enter the Guinness World Records with the largest mandala painting.

The dimensions of the whole painting amount to 244 x 488 cm, and it is divided into four parts, the dimensions of which are 122 x 244 cm, Zakaria said to SANA, pointing out that each quarter of the painting forms a part of a major circle which is the center of the painting.

She added it took 200 work hours to complete the first quarter of the painting, which Lama hopes to finish in the spring of 2021.

Zakaria indicated that the encouragement she received from those around her motivated her to begin immediately in the second quarter.

The young woman stressed her determination to achieve this masterpiece, which she described as one of the symbols of Syrian youths’ steadfastness, creativity and adherence to the values of art, beauty and peace.

According to Zakaria, working on the painting requires a lot of accuracy and care, to achieve the required symmetry.

When you create your own mandala, think of it as an echo of your soul. You can design a mandala to symbolize a state of mind that you would like to achieve.

Zakaria is a student in the second year at the College of Architecture and sought to specialize in dotting mandala art.

She has worked individually to learn the origins of this art and master its methods.

Zakarai has participated in several art exhibitions, including “young women”, “Creative Women” and “Kahraman” exhibitions.

A mandala is a complex abstract design that is usually circular in form. In fact, “mandala” is a Sanskrit word that means “circle”. Mandalas generally have one identifiable center point, from which emanates an array of symbols, shapes and forms.

Mandalas can contain both geometric and organic forms. They can also contain recognizable images that carry meaning for the person who is creating it.

In essence, mandalas represent the connection between our inner worlds and outer reality. Designing your own mandalas can be both inspirational and therapeutic.

Many different cultures around the world use mandalas in their spiritual practices.
