In his letters addressed to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet and President of the European Council Charles Michel, Patriarch Aphram II denounced the humanitarian catastrophe in Hasaka due to the cutting off water from Hcity and its countryside, northeast of Syria, as more than a million of Syrian people are prevented from their right in living.

Patriarch Aphram II added that for more than 10 days, terrorist groups affiliated to Turkish occupation cut off water from the citizens, as they have exposed, especially children and patients, to a critical health condition amid the spread of coronavirus pandemic and high rise of temperatures in the area.

He reiterated that using water as a weapon is a barbaric act and a blatant violation of the humanitarian rights, calling on the international community to take a stance towards this outrageous act.
