Havana, SANA- Chairwoman of the Cuban-Syrian Friendship Group at the Cuban Parliament Lisara Liliam Corona Oliveros stressed that the People’s Assembly elections which were held last Sunday had been a political victory for Syria.
In a statement on her Facebook on Saturday, Oliveros affirmed that the elections also embodied the Syrians’ rejection of any foreign interference in their country and their determination to defend its national sovereignty, and they proved the strength of the Syrian state despite of the military and economic aggression which has been launched against it by the U.S. and its allies.
Earlier, Oliveros called for lifting the Western unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, particularly in light of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus all around the world.
She asserted that these unjust measures hinder the efforts exerted by the Syrian Government for combating the coronavirus pandemic and they are unjustified in any way as they are considered a criminal act against the Syrian people in a time when all humanity is facing a global crisis.
