Foreign Ministry issues instructions for return of citizens stranded abroad

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Ministry on Wednesday issued instructions on the return of Syrian citizens stranded abroad  in light of  the measures taken by most countries in the world to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID 19), especially those related to border closure, and travel restrictions.

The Ministry said in a statement that the return of the Syrian civilians abroad includes the citizens stranded abroad who left Syria from January 1st , 2020 until May 1st, 2020, the students willing to return homeland due to suspension of studies at educational institutions in the countries where they are studying in , and the employees delegated with official missions who were unable to return due to the closure of the border between countries.

The Ministry indicated that applications are accepted from the Syrian citizens mentioned above, who wish to return home, within a period of one week as of May 17th, 2020 until May 22nd, 2020.

The return process is only for the Syrian citizens, not to accept applications of other nationalities, with exceptions of Syrian citizens’ wives and children of Syrian women as they will undergo quarantine at health quarantine centers in the provinces.
