Vershinin, Pedersen review the situation in Syria

Moscow, SANA _ Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin reviewed, in a telephone conversation, with the UN special envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen, the situation in Syria and the prospects for the progress of the political process.

“The Russian side affirmed the need to increase humanitarian assistance to all Syrians in need without discrimination, politicization or preconditions taking into account the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus pandemic,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

The Ministry added that a joint satisfaction was expressed regarding compliance with the cessation of hostilities in the de-escalation zone in Idleb as a result of the implementation of the additional protocol inked between Russia and Turkey on March 5. ”
