Damascus, SANA_ Ministry of Health will launch the first anti-polio vaccination campaign for the year 2020 on Sunday.
The one-week campaign targets the children whose ages are between one day and five years regardless of their previous vaccines.
In a statement to SANA, Director of Primary Health Care Department at Health Ministry Dr. Fadi Qassis said that the ministry completed the technical and logistic preparations for carrying this campaign out through 967 medical centers and 2336 mobile teams to reach all the areas.
This campaign targets more than 2.8 million child, according to Qassis who referred to distribution of about 8800 medical staffs on the medical centers and the mobile teams.
He also said that the Ministry had sent the vaccines to all provinces after allocating 354 centers for providing the vaccines, adding that the mobile teams will provide the vaccines for the children in the newly liberated villages from terrorism in Idleb and Aleppo countryside.
Qassis affirmed that the vaccine is safe and available and will be given free of charge and there is no problem of giving it to the child who is suffering of minor symptoms.
Every year, the Ministry of Health carries out two nationwide anti-polio vaccination campaigns.
