Cabinet allocates half state job vacancies to families of army martyrs and disabled personnel

Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet on Tuesday approved a bill on allocating 50% of job vacancies in state establishments to the families of military martyrs, injured personnel who suffer from full disability and those of equivalent status.

The Cabinet also approved a bill on the consumer spending fee.

Chairing the session, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi reviewed the government’s efforts in various fields, asserting that there will be an improvement in the availability of cooking gas and heating fuel very soon.

He also instructed the Health Ministry and the Pharmacists Syndicate to follow up on the issue of counterfeit medicine which is showing up in markets, adding that all attempts to manipulate the Syrian Pound exchange rate are doomed to fail.

During the session, Higher Education Minister Mohammad Amer Mardini presented a memo underlining the need to adopt new criteria for enrollment in universities, saying that high school diploma grades do not accurately reflect the students’ true education, knowledge, and skills and are therefore insufficient to be the sole criteria for enrollment.
