Government delegation inspects services and economic situation in Homs province

Homs, SANA-A government delegation, headed by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, on Saturday started a work visit to Homs province to inspect the services, economic, and development situation in the province, where the cabinet’s weekly will be held on Sunday.

Khamis met People’s Assembly members from Homs province at Homs Governorate building.

Talks during the meeting dealt with enhancing the economic, agricultural, industrial, and investment situation, in addition to improving electricity and transportation services, providing support for development projects in the administrative units and the local councils, supporting the heath and tourism sectors, and revitalizing the role of private-sector economic actor.

Khamis pointed out to the importance of developing a work mechanism for the upcoming stage as Homs enjoys an important role in the development process and includes many vital economic indicators.

He said the necessary financial support will be provided for cultivating every possible square meter, re-operating damaged industrial and crafts facilities, launching new projects, and bolstering the developmental role of the administrative units in the province.

Later, Khamis headed an expanded meeting with agricultural actors in Homs province, during which the 2020 agricultural investment map was approved, which seeks to expand agricultural small and medium sized projects in the province and develop them.

The meeting also resulted in a memo on food industries projects that could be established in the project, as well as a plan for re-cultivating areas liberated from terrorism.
