Damascus, SANA- Along with the entrance of a cold air mass to the area, temperatures will witness a notable and gradual drop to become below average, and heavy rains have fallen over most provinces, as the hugest amounts have been registered in Tartous City 117 mm, Damascus Countryside 107mm, Quneitra 103mm and Hama 100 mm, while snow fell over the areas whose height exceeds 1400 meters.
In its Thursday bulletin, Meteorology Department expected that the skies will be rainy and the rainfalls will be heavy and accompanied by thunder sometimes, particularly in the southern and coastal areas while snow will fall over the areas whose height is over than 1200 meters in the evening and at night and the temperatures will continue to drop to become from 3 to 5 degrees below average.
The wind will be southwesterly with active gusts, particularly in the southern areas and the coastal mountains while it will be southeasterly with a moderate speed in the northern and al-Jazeera areas and the sea waves will be high in amplitude.
The Meteorology Department warned off the torrents at the valleys and slopes in the coming hours, and the high speed of the wind which might exceed 75km/h in the southern region and the coastal mountains.
Over the past 24 hours, different amounts of rainfalls have been registered in a number of Syrian provinces as follows: Damascus and its countryside 107mm, Sweida 35mm, Daraa 68mm, Quneitra 103mm, Homs 60mm, Hama 100mm, Tartous 117mm, Lattakia 46.3 mm and Aleppo 27mm.
The expected temperatures in some major Syrian cities will be as follows: Damascus 10-4, Daraa 11-5, Homs 11-5, Lattakia 14-9, Aleppo 8-4 and Deir Ezzor 13-4.
