Patrushev affirms necessity of continuing political initiatives in Astana framework to solve crisis in Syria

Tehran, SANA- Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council Nikolai Patrushev asserted the necessity of continuing the political initiatives in framework of Astana process for finding a solution to the crisis in Syria and preventing the resurgence of terrorism.

Patrushev’s remarks came during a meeting with Iranian Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani on sidelines of the Regional Security Conference held Wednesday in Tehran.

“Cooperation between all parties is necessary in order to restore security and stability in Syria,” Patrushev said.

On the other hand, Patrushev considered that the nuclear agreement between Iran and the international group is a treaty that should be applied, stressing that the condition for the continuation of this agreement is that Iran enjoys its legal rights in it and that the rest of the countries strictly implement their obligations.

Patrushev pointed out that the continued holding of regional dialogue conferences upon the initiative of Iran is clear evidence on the sense of responsibility of the countries of the region towards the cooperation in the field of stability and peace.
