Syria, Algeria to enhance parliamentary cooperation

Algiers, SANA-Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham discussed Monday with Speaker of the Algerian National Popular Council Mohammad al-Arabi Wild Khalifa the latest developments in the region and terrorism phenomenon.

During the meeting, al-Laham pointed out to the suffering Syria endures due to terrorism and foreign intervention which facilitated the infiltration of terrorists from more than 83 countries into Syria.

Al-Laham also referred to the double standard policy in applying international relevant resolutions, saying that the US has formed a coalition to combat terrorist organizations in cooperation with countries which are known for their hostility to Syria.

For his part, Wild Khalifa said Algeria always stresses the need for drying terrorism resources, adding that his country is committed to the principle of non-intervention in the domestic affairs of sovereign countries.

In a statement to the press after the meeting, al-Laham described as deep and strong the relations which connect the Syrian and Algerian peoples.

He invited Speaker of the Algerian National Popular Council to visit Damascus to boost ties between the two councils. .

Al-Laham arrived in Algiers today on a 4-day visit to the country.
