Nebenzia: British allegations against Russia aim at undermining its role in settling crisis in Syria

New York, SANA- Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia said that the British allegations that Moscow is responsible for poisoning the Russian former double agent Sergei Skripal are mainly intended to discredit Russia’s reputation and accuse it of using weapons of mass destruction in order to undermine its role in resolving the crises in Syria and Czech.

Nebenzia remarks came during a the UN Security Council meeting held on Thursday upon Russia’s request.

Nebenzia stressed that the accusations of Russia’s involvement in the poisoning of Skripal or his daughter are unacceptable and unethical, indicating that his country, as a member state of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, calls for an independent investigation to reveal the truth of the incident.
