100 apartments in al-Zabadani turned over to their owners after finishing repairs

Damascus Countryside, SANA – Repair teams in al-Zabadani started work on setting solar-powered lights in some of the streets and main squares, and handed over 100 out of 200 apartments to their owners after repairing them in coordination with international organizations.

Chairman of the Municipal Council Basel al-Dalati affirmed that about 70% of water network maintenance has been completed, which included maintaining reservoirs, wells that provide drinking water, and water lines, at a total cost of around SYP 650 million.

He added that 4 schools have been rehabilitated at an estimated cost of SYP 200 million, two of them at the expense of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in cooperation with the Education Ministry.

Al-Dalati said that three projects by the Military Constructions Establishment are currently being ratified, with first involving the restoration and rehabilitation of the governmental complex at a cost of SYP 150 million, while the second is for demolishing dilapidated buildings that do not meet safety codes at a cost of SYP 50 million, and the third is for rehabilitating the city’s southern and eastern entrances and maintaining the pavement at a cost of SYP 70 million.

The Chairman added that there are attempts by the Local Administration and Environment Ministry to encourage international organizations to repair 500 more apartments in the city of al- Zabadani.
