Damascus, SANA – Head of the Italian parliamentary delegation visiting Syria, Paolo Romani, underlined the need to convince the public opinion that terrorism in Syria is a multiple. It is not restricted to the ISIS terrorist organization; rather, there are Jabhat al-Nusra and other terrorist groups.
Romani, who heads an Italian delegation to the EU General Assembly, made his remarks during a meeting between the delegation members and Deputy Speaker of the People’s Assembly Najdat Anzour, adding that the war on Syria is regional since Turkey and other states are taking part in it.
He noted that the visit aims at inspecting the situation on the ground, stressing the importance of changing the public opinion in Europe and current approach towards the events in Syria and listening to the Syrians’ viewpoint.
For his part, Anzour stressed the need to unify international efforts to confront terrorism which has become a serious and grave threat to all countries.
He indicted to the destructive role of some regional and western states which provided support to terrorists in Syria, expressing hope that the Italian delegation would convey the reality of what is happening on the ground to the European public opinion.
In a press conference following the meeting, Romani said the main mission is to change the European countries’ current approach towards the events in Syria, adding that the delegation will convey the reality of what is taking place in Syria to the Italian mass media and uncovr the western media’s lies and fabricated- news.
He also highlighted the role of Syrian mass media in shedding light on the standing diversity in Syria such as the Syrian Parliament which represents different spectrums of society.
