War correspondent course kicks off at Media Institute in Damascus

Damascus, SANA – With the participation of more than 25 trainees, the Mass Communication and Training Institute in Damascus started a war correspondent training media course on Wednesday.

The course aims at developing media work in the face of the global terrorist war waged against Syria.

Assistant Information Minister Maan Haidar stressed the importance of such initiatives due to the vital importance of live media coverage of events in confronting terrorism.

For his part, Director-General of the Syrian Arab news Agency (SANA), Ahmad Dawa, said the Agency was the first to send war correspondents to convey the reality of the events taking place in Syria, adding that media coverage of the events was not solid at first as it hadn’t received the needed attention before the crisis.

Academics, professors, Political Administration officers, and heads of media outlets will be giving lectures during the 15-day course.
