Damascus, SANA_ President Bashar al-Assad expressed heartfelt condolences to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and to the friendly Iranian people over the martyrs of the recent terrorist attacks hit the country.
In a phone call with his Iranian counterpart on Thursday, President al-Assad expressed Syria’s strong condemnation of such terrorist acts, emphasizing Syria’s standing by Iran in confronting terrorism and the firm and absolute solidarity with the Iranian government and people.
During the call, President al-Assad pointed out that the terrorists and their masters resort to such despicable way stemming from their failure to undermine Iran and its people in whatever means, so they resorted to their tool, which they have created, in an attempt to impose political changes that serve their interests.
The President stressed that Syria and Iran will win in confronting the fierce terrorism.
For his part, President Rouhani thanked President al-Assad over the condolences and solidarity, stressing that what happened will not harm the steadfastness and resilience of the Iranian people, who have become more determined to counter terrorism.
The Iranian President affirmed his country’s standing by Syria’s side in its war against terrorism until it restores security and stability, stressing that the two countries will continue together to combat terrorism despite all challenges.
Rouhani hailed the advance and achievements carried out by the Syrian Arab Army and its allies on the ground, expressing confidence that the two countries will beat the terrorist groups, which seek to undermine the security and stability of the whole region.
On Wednesday, at least 16 people were killed and more than 40 were injured in twin terrorist attacks targeted the headquarters of the Iranian Shura Council and the shrine of late Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the capital Tehran.The attacks were carried out by ISIS terrorists.
