Damascus, SANA – Cuba’s Ambassador in Damascus Rogerio Manuel Santana Rodriguez held a reception on Thursday at his residence in Damascus celebrating the 71st anniversary of Syria’s Independence Day and the 56 anniversary of the US failed invasion on the Bay of Pigs.
During the reception, an agreement on the mutual exemption of entry visa fees for holders of diplomatic passports between the two countries was signed.
The Ambassador stressed that the agreement sets evidence on Cuba’s confidence that Syria will defeat terrorism and stresses Cuba’s solidarity with the Syrian people during these difficult times.
He congratulated Syria’s people and government on this occasion, underlining the achievements made by the Syrian army, particularly in Aleppo and Palmyra.
For his part, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal al-Mikdad said that today’s agreement indicates the deep Syrian-Cuban relations and the joint desire to further be enhanced.
In turn, Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister Ayman Sousan expressed the Syrian people and government’s appreciation to Cuba for its continuous support and its stances towards Syria.
