Damascus, SANA – Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban stressed that the US attack on a Syrian airbase undermines powers which fight terrorism and has one explanation that is to be an attempt to rescue terrorists who target the Syrian people.
In a phone call with al-Mayadeen TV channel, Shaaban noted that the US attack came under false allegations and claims of using chemical weapons in Khan Sheikhoun area in the countryside of Idleb province, adding that the real reason lies in the Syrian army’s victories against ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organizations.
She noted to the blatant contradiction in the US and the West’s claims on fighting terrorism and their attempt to rescue terrorists at the same time, wondering that how could a state such as the US, which claims to be keen on law and human rights, commit an aggressive act without enough evidence?
Shaaban said that Syria will support Russia’s proposal to hold a UN Security Council session to condemn the US aggression on a sovereign state, reaffirming that Syria will continue its war on terrorism and exposing false allegations and pretexts which the West uses to destroy countries and the people of the region.
She added that the Israeli enemy is the major beneficiary of the war on Syria, welcoming the honorable western attitudes in condemnation of this aggression which shows clear support to terrorism.
