Doha, SANA – Syria’s Al-Jaish football team defeated Jordan’s Al-Ahli 1-0 in its first match in the group stage of the 2017 AFC Cup which was held on Monday in Doha, Qatar.
Al-Jaish played offensively since the start of the match, threatening Al-Ahli’s goal several times until Mohammad Hamadko scored at the 24 minutes mark, and the team managed to fend off Al-Ahli’s attempts to score an equalizer throughout the first half, while the second half saw more attempts by Al-Jaish to score until the last minutes when it focused on defense to maintain the lead.
This match was the first for Al-Jaish in Group A which also includes Oman’s Al-Suwaiq and Iraq’s Al-Zawraa.
