De Mistura hopes the upcoming UNSC session on Syria will revive the political process

Geneva, SANA- UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura hoped that the upcoming session of the UN Security Council on September 21 will revive the political process with the aim of finding a solution to the crisis in Syria.

In a press conference in Geneva on Thursday, de Mistura said that the Russian-US agreement on Syria led to “the reduction of violence” dramatically, adding that the agreement is still able to change “rules of the game” in Syria.

He pointed out to the necessity of delivering the humanitarian aid to all areas without hindrances, calling upon all parties to help and facilitate that.

The UN diplomat said that there is no need to any politicization for the humanitarian aid issue, adding that Moscow and Washington agreed on establishing new checkpoints on al-Castelo road in Aleppo to prevent hindering the aid convoys’ passage.
