Peskov urges caution before accusing any side of violating cessation of fighting actions agreement in Syria

Moscow, SANA – Russian president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov called upon Russia’s foreign partners to be careful over accusing any side of violating cessation of fighting actions agreement in Syria or accusing Russia of violating it.

Peskov said, in a statement Monday, It is important that “we have reached this agreement and made the principal steps for implementing it and the process is still on… yet, since the beginning, it is clear that it will not be easy.”

He clarified that the Russian and US presidents stressed since the beginning that the path for achieving a sustainable calming in Syria will not be easy due to the complexity of the situation as a whole, adding and “we have called our partners many times to be careful before accusing any side of foiling the agreement because the situation has not been sustainable yet.”

On Sunday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his US counterpart John Kerry stressed in a phone conversation the importance of a tight military coordination between Moscow and Washington in Syria.
Cessation of fighting actions in Syria started Saturday in implementation of the Russian-US agreement adopted by the Security Council in accordance with Resolution No. 2268.
