The first drift championship organized in Syria in defiance of all difficult circumstances

Damascus, SANA- The Syrian Automobile Club “SAC” in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism organized a drift championship on the circuit of Zaman al-Khair which is the first of its kind in Syria.

Drifting is a driving technique where the driver intentionally oversteers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels or all tires, while maintaining control from entry to exit of a corner.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA car is drifting when the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, to such an extent that often the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn.

Racer Ahmed Kraizan came in the first place in the championship, Maher Fawwal in the second place and Ahmed Najjar in the third.

Organizing the championship by the SAC reflects the strong will of the Syrians and their ability to be renewable and to continue their normal life, Minister of Tourism Bishir Yazaji said.

Yazaji added that the youth, economic and social institutions, clubs and activities in Syria have been an example to follow in the innovation, enthusiasm, and creation in a way that would push forwards the process of building and overcoming all the consequences of the crisis.

He indicated that the Ministry of Tourism supports and encourages everything that could deliver a true image about the Syrians who are still practicing their works, activities and hobbies despite of the fierce war launched against them by the enemies of humanity.

For his part, Chairman of the SAC Walid Shaaban said the championship is a new experience in Syria that shows the high capabilities of SAC cadres who have been able to reconstruct the circuit of Zaman al-Khair which was destroyed at the hands of the Takfiri terrorists and they prepared it for holding the competitions of the championship.
