President Al-Sharaa starts his second Gulf tour to enhance economy and investment

Abu Dhabi, SANA- President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Ahmad al-Sharaa, started on Monday his second tour to the states of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which comes following the lifting of most international sanctions on Syria.

The tour aims to enhance economic cooperation and attract Gulf investments to Syria as part of a comprehensive reconstruction and economic development plan.

The UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, was the first destination of the visit as Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, received President al-Sharaa, followed by an official meeting between the two sides. The meeting addressed means of enhancing economic and development cooperation and aspects to support Syria’s efforts in the post-war phase.

During the meeting, President al-Sharaa affirmed that Syria, having turned the page on war and division, is moving towards building strategic partnerships with its Gulf brothers.

The President praised the UAE’s pioneering role in supporting regional stability and expressed Syria’s aspiration to benefit from the UAE’s experience in sustainable development, digital transformation, and clean energy.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed welcomed President al-Sharaa’s visit, affirming the UAE’s full support for stability and reconstruction efforts in Syria and its commitment to boosting bilateral cooperation in various fields, particularly investment, infrastructure and technology.
