Ministry of Education, UNICEF assess school needs in Damascus

Damascus, SANA-The Damascus Directorate of Education, in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), continues to assess the needs of schools in the Syrian capital through a dedicated survey form designed for needs evaluation. This initiative falls within the broader framework of cooperation between the Syrian educational sector and international organizations.

During a field visit, the Director of Damascus Education, Ghassan al-Lahham, accompanied by a UNICEF team, reviewed the current status of “Mohammad Ahmad Nassif” School in Damascus. The visit aimed to assess its needs across several areas as part of the pilot phase of the needs assessment survey, which covers infrastructure, student and teacher requirements, and the identification of priorities to improve the educational environment.

Last May, the Ministry of Education also discussed fields of cooperation with UNICEF engineers regarding the development of studies for school construction using modern designs that compatible with international standards.
