Higher Education Ministry directs setting up media offices in faculties of Damascus University

Damascus, SANA-The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has issued directives for the establishment of media offices in all faculties and institutes of Damascus University. These offices will operate through the university’s voluntary media team and will be supervised and closely monitored by the university’s central media office.

In its circular, a copy of which was obtained by SANA Thursday, the Ministry emphasized that this initiative stems from the vital role of university media in highlighting academic, cultural, and student activities. It aims to strengthen Damascus University’s institutional presence within both the student and broader community, while reaffirming the essential role of media in fostering communication between students and the administration and ensuring the university is represented in a professional and dignified manner.

The Ministry called on all relevant entities to cooperate fully with these media offices and to provide the necessary support to facilitate their duties in documenting and disseminating events and activities. This will contribute to enhancing the university’s image and ensuring effective engagement with its students and the community.

Furthermore, the Ministry stressed that no media offices, teams, or social media pages may be established under the name of any faculty, institute, or department without prior coordination and approval from the university’s central media office. It underscored the importance of giving this matter the necessary attention and maintaining continuous coordination with the media office at the Ministry of Higher Education to ensure proper implementation and follow-up.

In an another statement to SANA, Ahmad al-Ashqar, Director of the Media Office at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and head of the university’s voluntary media team, highlighted the significance of strengthening the media presence of Damascus University and documenting its academic, cultural, and student activities. He emphasized that media serves as a message that blends passion with responsibility.
