Syria strongly condemns Israeli occupation military incursion into Damascus countryside

Damascus, SANA- Syria strongly condemned the Israeli Occupation military incursion in Beit Jinn area, Damascus countryside as a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty and territorial integrity and a “threat to regional peace and security”.

The ministry of foreign affairs and expatriates said in a statement that “The Syrian Arab Republic expresses its strong condemnation of the military incursion carried out by the Israeli occupation forces in the Beit Jinn area in the Damascus countryside”.

The incursion which was carried out by a force consisting of eleven military vehicles and approximately sixty soldiers, and the seizure of Tal Bat al-Warda at the foot of Mount Hermon, is “a flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic”, the statement clarified.

The ministry added that this “dangerous escalation constitutes a direct threat to regional peace and security” and once again reflects aggressive approach pursued by the occupation authorities, in blatant defiance of the provisions of international law and relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.

The ministry affirmed that the continuation of such violations “undermines stability efforts and exacerbates tension in the region”, and called on the United Nations and the UN Security Council to assume their legal and moral responsibilities.

It called on these international organizations to take “urgent and effective measures to deter the occupation authorities from their aggressive practices, and ensure their accountability” in accordance with the provisions of international law, in a manner that ensures the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.
