France and the Aga Khan Network sign a cooperation agreement to support Syria

Paris-SANA, French President Emmanuel Macron and the head of the Aga Khan Development Network, Rahim Aga Khan, signed Saturday a joint agreement to cooperate in supporting Syria and rebuilding its infrastructure.

A joint statement issued by the two sides in Paris said: “The agreement affirms the intention to cooperate for a successful and peaceful transition in Syria, to protect human dignity, to enhance resilience, and to resettle displaced people.”

According to the statement, the agreement includes areas of cooperation in responding to urgent humanitarian needs, in addition to investing in the foundations necessary for sustainable and long-term development, including rebuilding the Syrian economy by supporting agriculture, empowering entrepreneurship, strengthening the healthcare sector, and providing cultural support as a means of creating job opportunities and stimulating economic growth.
