Damascus, SANA -The Aid Fund for Syria (AFS) has released $500,000 in emergency funding to support the Civil Defense’s response in extinguishing fires raging in Lattakia countryside, northwestern Syria, and other areas of the country.
“In light of the devastating fires sweeping Syria, the Fund is committed to standing by the affected communities, and we are working to provide immediate support through our trusted partner, the Syrian Civil Defense, to contribute to saving lives, protecting the most vulnerable groups, and starting the recovery process,” the Fund’s official website quoted Andrea Quaden, the Fund’s Executive Director, as saying, stressing that the humanitarian needs are urgent and we must act swiftly.
According to the website, the funds will be used to add a portion dedicated to responding to wildfires to the current grant allocated to civil defense with the fund under Regular Allocation 3.
This emergency support will enable the rapid deployment of specialized personnel, protective gear, hoses, fuel, and spare parts for firefighting equipment in the hardest-hit areas of Lattakia, northern Hama, and southern Idleb.
These regions are seeing farmland destroyed, families displaced, and already vulnerable communities pushed further into crisis.
