Aoun: Lebanon seeks good relations with Syria's new leadership

Beirut, SANA-Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun, affirmed his country’s keenness to establish good relations with Syria’s new leadership.

“We have two constants, the first is the keenness to establish good relations with the new Syrian regime and its president, Ahmad al-Sharaa, and the second is non-interference in the internal affairs of each of the two countries.”The Lebanese National News Agency quoted Aoun as saying during his reception Friday of a delegation from the Arab and International Relations Council

Aoun added that “coordination is ongoing between Lebanese and Syrian security agencies to maintain stability on the border and prevent the smuggling of people, weapons, and drugs.”

On the other hand, the Lebanese President considered that “the decision to restrict the possession of weapons to the state has been taken and is irreversible, as it is the most prominent aspect of national sovereignty.”
